How to burn scented candles?
It is recommended to burn scented candles for a maximum of 3-4 hours at a time. It is important to allow the melted wax to reach the rim of the vessel to prevent unmelted wax from building up around the rim and to avoid pitting around the wick. Never leave a lit candle unattended or within reach of air currents, pets or small children. Do not blow out the candle - use special extinguishers or cover the candle with a lid. The vessel will be hot after burning the candle, allow the wax to cool completely. Before use, it is necessary to trim the wick to 0.6 cm - this will also help to avoid the admixture of unpleasant odors. Do not burn the candle if less than 1 cm is left to the bottom.
Why does Flame use 100% coconut wax?
Most candles on the market are made from paraffin or paraffin blends. Paraffin wax is cheaper, easier to work with, and holds and diffuses fragrance well. At the same time, it is produced by "bleaching" and turning the sediment from oil barrels into wax. The problem and harm of paraffin candles is that when burned, they release carcinogenic chemicals such as styrene, acetone, benzene, toluene, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, acrolein, naphthalene, polychlorinated dibenzofurans and polyaromatic hydrocarbons. Burning a paraffin candle can cause breathing problems, worsen asthma, lung and heart disease, and damage hoods and electrical appliances.
Flame uses coconut wax - it's non-toxic and burns cleaner than paraffin because it doesn't emit toxic gasoline carbon black. Coconut wax is known for its characteristics in the industry: it exudes a bright smell when cold and hot, can hold and spread a large amount of fragrance, it has a low melting point (so it burns longer than other vegetable waxes and 60% longer than paraffin), it has a pleasant texture, color and a subtle aroma similar to that of coconut oil, which perfectly complements our fragrances. In addition, Flame wax is a renewable natural component and its production is considered more environmentally friendly than the production and cultivation of other natural waxes (for example, soy).
Why does Flame use a 100% cotton wick?
The most common wicks contain lead and zinc, so when burned, they release harmful toxins into the air we breathe. A candle with a lead wick releases five times more lead into the air than is commonly believed to be harmful to children.
Lead exposure has been linked to hormonal disorders, behavioral disorders, learning disabilities and a host of other health problems. Lead in wicks was banned in the US and Europe back in 2003, but many manufacturers still use them in countries where this issue is not regulated, and then export these candles to other countries of the world.
Flame uses lead-free and zinc-free wicks. The wicks are made from 100% cotton and are woven with fine paper threads to provide rigidity and a comfortable, even filling.
WHAT IS THE HARM OF AROMAS WITH PHTHALATES? Flame blends all the fragrances themselves from high quality essential and aroma oils. There are no chemical additives or phthalates in Flame fragrances. Phthalates are esters of phthalic acid used to dissolve raw materials in the manufacture of aromatic oils.
High levels of phthalates can lead to reproductive problems and birth defects in the fetus, including an increased risk of behavioral problems, premature birth, and respiratory problems in children with asthma.
Flame selects only certified ingredients in its phthalate-free fragrances to avoid health risks for ourselves, the manufacturers and, above all, our customers.
